CONVERGE 2012 – It’s just the beginning!
Opening day of Courion’s 10th annual customer conference, CONVERGE 2012, was off to a rousing start at the Boston Renaissance Waterfront Hotel with Courion executives, staff and over 130 new and returning customers and partners gathering for three full days of networking, panel discussions, product demos, case studies and interactive working sessions.
A lively multi-media production complete with streamer ‘fireworks’ and a talking cloud kicked off this year’s CONVERGE: Identity and Access Management in a New Era, Managing Access Risk in Today’s Mobile, Always On, Cloud-Based Environment. Courion Vice President of Strategy & Corporate Development (and MC), Kurt Johnson, opened with a brief look back at Courion’s and CONVERGE’s evolution before getting into the evolution of the security market and its impact on identity and access risk.
Courion President and CEO Chris Zannetos, Chief Operating Officer Dave Fowler, and Kurt Johnson all delivered an engaging, jam packed opening session about the ‘New Era’ where open is no longer a choice; and doing business in the cloud, mobile and virtual environments comes with new risks. Traditional IAM (user provisioning and access certification), just isn’t working anymore and we need a better way to deal with an always-on business environment and massive amounts of information aka ‘big data.’ Key to managing this information proliferation and effectively reigning in access risk is using business intelligence -- the intelligent analysis of all this data -- to identify, quantify and manage the data, and access risk.
Chris Zannetos then spoke about ‘minding the gap’ – the gap between user provisioning and access certification -- where organizations don’t know if they’ve had a data breach, or sensitive information has been compromised.
He remarked that organizations need to protect information from threats both inside and out; be more proactive and more prepared; highlighting that recent transformational and transformative events in the security world have shown us that although nothing is truly secure, the key to successfully meeting the challenges of access risk lie in effectively managing the risk, not just providing security.
Over the next two days, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the latest updates to technology and solutions from Courion and its partners, and network with industry peers and experts – giving them unique insight and perspective on successfully managing the challenges of access risk. It’s the can’t miss event for IAM professionals – stay tuned for details on CONVERGE 2013!
